DataMovil MIDP Edition includes the same core software as the PDA Edition. The User Interface is adapted to handsets with more limited capacities, consequently, the underlying support software is a different flavour of Java, namely, J2ME CLDC 1.1 MIDP 2.0.

There are plenty of devices supporting MIDP 2.0 with very different capabilities. DataMovil has been tested so far in the following environments:

• Nokia Symbian Series 60 devices
• RIM Blackberry 4.1 compilation environment
• Sun Microsystems MIDP emulator
• MIDP Microemulator

This variety provides a sensible evidence to assume that most MIDP devices are supported by DataMovil. Nevertheless, more devices will be tested on a continuos basis.

Regarding the memory need to run DataMovil, a minimum of 2MB is recommended. The actual memory depends very much upon the application to be executed. The more memory the larger documents can be executed. The complexity of the application also affect to the performance. Generally speaking, DataMovil is designed to be executed over the upper part of the handset spectrum, the sometimes called Smartphones
