Madrid, 14th of December 2006. Enagas, the main natural gas carrier in Spain, is deploying a plant maintenance software application for the three regasification plants in Spain -Barcelona, Cartagena and Huelva. The application is based on an industrial PDA, specific for the gas industry, with a RFID reader and the DataMovil client. The plant operators perform their plant maintenance activities using the PDA to record the measurements taken in the plant equipment, to view the historical values of a measurement, to report the maintenance operations done and to check whether a round has been completed. The plant equipment is identified by means of a RFID tag, which is read by the PDA with a RFID reader integrated with DataMovil.

The system includes a web application used to manage all the maintenance activities. This application also generates the DataMovil-Xforms applications which are downloaded into the PDA before the operators start their activities. Both applications –PDA and server parts- are finally integrated with the corporate backoffice based on SAP.
